Date Night

"Date Night" stars Tina Fey and Steve Carell as married couple Claire and Phil Foster with 2 children. They have a house in New Jersey and have boring jobs and boring lives. Every so often, they have one night out, a 'date night' where they go to the same place and order the same food. After realizing that they need some excitement and passion in their relationship, they decide that instead of doing their same routine on their dates, they will go out for a nice dinner in New York City. But, of course their night doesn't go exactly as planned and its beyond exciting and even quite adventurous.

Another thing I loved about this film, was that it had a lot of great little cameos throughout. I love seeing great actors in movies when I don't expect them to be in it. These little cameos were filled with, Ray Liotta, James Franco, Mila Kunis, Will.i.am(even though he didn't have any lines), Kristen Wiig, and Mark Ruffalo. Another nice surprise was that Mark Wahlberg had a bigger part than I had expected. He plays a sexy old friend of Claire's that helps them out in their adventure in New York City. He was great and completely shirtless the whole time.

I really enjoyed the pairing of Fey and Carell and I also enjoyed that they share this real relationship that is in rut and are desperately thirsty for love and passion. It's a real love story, without the pop songs and chasing someone to the airport in the end. It shows the audience that love and relationships aren't easy and they're not always great. I like that, and I like that they do dorky things like have a book club with their friends, and go to dinner and create a back story for random people and try to make up what those people are saying to each other. I love that they can be dorky together and always know they'll feel the same way about each other.

"Date Night" is incredibly amusing. It's a fun, laugh out loud comedy. It's not a film where you have to sit and really think about what's happening, you can sit back, relax and laugh the whole way through. I recommend this to anyone who likes, comedy, adventures, and a shirtless Mark Wahlberg!

Steve Carell and Tina Fey make a wonderful couple on screen. They had really great chemistry and comedic timing, that I just kept thinking why haven't they paired up sooner?! What I love about the pair is the fact that they look like average everyday people. Fey isn't a supermodel and Carell isn't a muscular hunk. They are real people, which makes their situations and relationship all the more genuine. It was nice for a change to see actors portray real people with real insecurities, like Claire feeling over-dressed for their date or Phil feeling horrible about the way Claire stares at Mark Wahlberg's character, Holbrooke.
