INCEPTION!!!

Want to see one of the best movies of the year? Better yet, want to see one of the best movies of the 21st century? GO SEE CHRISTOPHER NOLAN'S 'INCEPTION'. I know, I know you're probably thinking that I know someone in the film because I've been promoting it on this site almost every day, but seriously, it is hands down one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. The film centers around Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) a regretful man dealing with his inner demons, whose job entails diving into other people's subconscious and stealing valuable secrets from them while in a dream state. Cobb is a highly skilled expert in the dangerous ability of extraction. He puts his subjects into a deep sleep, as well as himself and steals from them through their dreams. Unfortunately, his rare ability has not only made him the best at what he does but it also cost him everything he has ever loved. But, there can be hope for him. Cobb is addressed with a business offer that he can't refuse. If Cobb, performs inception, (which is planting an idea instead of stealing it) he is compensated with turning his life back around. Cobb takes the offer and the imaginative adventure begins...

I cannot stress it enough, this movie blew my mind. Christopher Nolan is a genius at his craft. He creates this incredible world where these highly skilled people assemble together and form a team to perform inception into the mind of a fragile man's subconscious and it is beyond amazing. He has these mind-blowing special effects and some really great action shots that you can't get enough of. You sit there watching this film, that has never been done before (at least not to my knowledge) and you just keep thinking what will he do or what will he come up with next?! He is the director of the films, 'Memento', 'The Prestige', 'Batman Begins', and 'The Dark Knight', not sure if anyone has seen these films, but if you haven't you definitely should because you won't be surprised of the masterpieces created by the man behind the camera. He should be recognized and acknowledged for this art form. So I applaud Christopher Nolan for this wonderful out of the world film.

Next, are the acting performances. Everyone in this movie brought their A game. Leonardo DiCaprio is of course, brilliant. He portrays this strong yet at times vulnerable man that is struggling with his inner demons and is fighting to turn his life around. Marion Cotillard is beyond captivating. She has such a strong presence on screen that it is unbelievable to watch. She portrays this beautifully tragic woman, Mal, who is emotionally and physically stuck in time. Her character had so many different levels and even when she is at her craziest there is something about her that still makes you sit there and feel for her. Cillian Murphy portrays a vulnerable businessman Robert Fischer, who was just remarkable. I felt every emotion that he conveyed; he was truly an inspiration for a hopeful actor. He had a pseudo small part but he had a large performance. I really, really enjoyed his work in this film. Ellen Page was a nice delight in this film, her character, Ariadne, was smart and witty but in a non-Juno way. Her passion for knowledge was refreshing and I loved her relationship with Cobb, they were great friends who deeply cared for each other after seeing what's inside their subconscious. Joseph Gordon-Levitt delivered a great performance as well. His character didn't have much but I think he performs most of the action, which is just really fun to watch. He is obviously a 'stick in the mud' type of guy and very serious about his job, but again, he was very likeable and enjoyable to watch. All the actors were great and irreplaceable in their roles.

Now, for the story, I wish I could sit here and talk all day about this movie, but for the people who haven't caught this film yet, I'm not going to ruin it. All I'm going to say is that, this story is very unique and original and it is really invigorating, knowing that there are some new ideas being thought up and new storylines bringing brought to the table. I've never seen anything like it, and I hope Nolan continues to inspire and enlighten us further with his work.

I HIGHLY recommend this film to anyone who enjoys action films, dreams, brilliant storylines, and films that don't disappoint. If you have seen 'Inception' please please please comment and share your thoughts!!! Just make sure you warn fellow readers if there are spoilers!!!
