I love this movie. I love how random and unique the story line is and how they showcase both Brennan and Dale as big children in an adult setting. They of course act like children and hate that their parents are getting married and moving in together. They fight a lot and literally act like 7 year old brothers in the bodies of 40 year old men. But when Brennan's annoying arrogant jerk brother comes to visit, things begin to change. Brennan warns Dale about Derek (Adam Scott) and why he hates him. Derek is a successful hardworking man with a wife and 2 children who have incredible singing voices. When Dale and Brennan are agreeing that Derek is a jerk in their tree house, Derek comes up and starts to annoy them. Until Dale punches him in the face, which then creates an incredible bond between Dale and Brennan. They become best friends. They stay up late and do everything together. They even try to make their beds into bunk beds. But, when their parents make them try to go out and do something with their lives, Nancy and Robert's marriage begins to suffer. It's time for Dale and Brennan to grow up.
The acting is wonderful in this film. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are perfect as older men acting like grade school kids. Their mannerisms and actions are downright hysterical. They of course make this film. There is a part in the film where they sleep walk and do random stuff in the kitchen (not to give anything away) but it is my favorite part of the whole movie. I think that's what I love so much about this movie, it's random and silly and it's not trying to be anything but that. It's just two grown men acting ridiculous and its genius!
All I have to say, is if you haven't seen this comedy please go out and rent it. If you are a fan of Will Ferrell or John C. Reilly or silly comedies you will absolutely love this film. I recommend it to people who appreciate quirky, comedies and have a good sense of humor.
