It has finally been confirmed that the female lead, Daisy Buchanan, who Gatsby falls in love and begins an affair with, will be portrayed by Carey Mulligan. She will join Leonardo DiCaprio who is portraying Gatsby and rumors are swirling that Tobey Maguire may be stepping in as Nick Carraway, the novel's narrator and best friend to Gatbsy. Carey Mulligan has been very busy lately. Nominated for an Oscar for last year's 'An Education' then starring in 'Never Let Me Go' which already stirred up Oscar buzz this fall with Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield. She also had another film out this September that she starred with her then-beau Shia LaBeouf and Oscar Winner Michael Douglas in 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.' According to imdb.com her next project is 'Drive' starring Ryan Gosling and Christina Hendricks and most likely 'The Great Gatsby' will be after that now that some of the cast is almost completely confirmed.
