Kung Fu Panda 2!!!

DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ will have people of all ages entertained. The film is a sequel to the 2008 animated hit ‘Kung Fu Panda.’ Everyone in the original is back for the sequel especially, Jack Black who lends his voice again, to the infamous Dragon Warrior Panda, Po. This film centers on a villainous peacock, Shen (voiced by the brilliant Gary Oldman), who knows where Po came from and who is true parents are. Po is on a mission to seek out the truth and discover who he is by finding out his past. But, Shen has a weapon that can destroy all of China and is not afraid to use it. Po and the furious five Tigress, Crane, Monkey, Viper and Mantis (voiced by Angelina Jolie, David Cross, Jackie Chan, Lucy Lui, and Seth Rogen) have to fight off Shen and his army before it’s late. Can Po and the furious five save China and find out who Po is before Shen destroys everything?

‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ was just as great as the original. It’s fun, entertaining and humorous. This film is a little darker than the first and more serious. The first film is funnier and goofier whereas this film is deeper with more heartfelt scenes. Jack Black is perfect as the naïve, fun-loving plush Panda, Po. Gary Oldman was great as the villainous peacock, his voice encapsulated evil and was overly dramatic which worked perfectly for this character.

This film had a more complex plot compared to the original because not only do the furious five have to fight off Shen and his army but they also have to help Po discover what truly happened after he was born.

The beginning was intriguing because the story unfolds right from the start. The audience learns what occurred all those years ago when Po was born through a display of animation that is different than the rest of the film. But, what is even more intriguing is the fact that Po picks up on tiny clues that force him to remember those days and attempt to piece everything back together. His character exudes stupidity and immaturity, but there is so much more to Po then anyone realizes. He is actually quite smart and extremely underestimated. He is caring, loving and courageous. His road to self discovery is dangerous, but rather beautiful.

Kung Fu Panda 2 is highly recommended to children of all ages and to people who enjoy animated, fun-loving films filled with love, heart, adventure and humor.
