Dolphin Tale Review For Blu-Ray Elite!!!

Director Charles Martin Smith created a beautifully touching film entitled, Dolphin Tale starring Harry Connick Jr, Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman, Nathan Gamble, and Cozi Zuehlsdorff. Dolphin Tale is the latest film Warner Bros. sent me as part of the blu-ray elite program. The film centers on a lonely young boy, who finds a friend in an injured dolphin, who lost it’s tail in a crab trap.

Dolphin Tale is inspired by a true story. The film opens up with a young boy, Sawyer (Gamble) whose father left him and his best friend and older cousin Kyle (portrayed by Austin Stowell) is about to leave for war. Sawyer is left depressed and alone until one day while riding his bike to school a fisherman stops him to use his phone because a dolphin is stuck on the shore in a crab trap. Sawyer takes out his pocket knife Kyle left him, and set the dolphin free of the trap. They call the Clearwater marine hospital to save the dolphin that they later name Winter. Engaged and intrigued, Sawyer stops by the hospital everyday to see Winter, and eventually a connection is born with him and Winter.

The acting in this film is phenomenal especially with the two young actors in the film, Gamble and Zuehlsdorff. Gamble is great as the shy, eager boy who is yearning for fun, adventure and friendship. Zuehlsdorff is fantastic as the daughter of Dr. Clay (Connick Jr.) who is clumsy, excited, and full of energy. Connick Jr. does a great job as the smart, caring doctor of the animals. Judd delivers a fine performance as Lorraine, Sawyer’s mother. She truly wants the best for Sawyer and is overjoyed when he finds a friend in Winter and the family at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Last but certainly not least, Morgan Freeman is of course great as Dr. McCarthy. He’s sweet, giving and will do anything to help Winter.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Dolphin Tale to anyone who enjoys films dealing with children and animals, films that the whole family can watch. The blu-ray has a ton of special features including the true story of Winter's rescue and the behind the scenes look at his real home at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Also, recommended to anyone who enjoys a film filled with love, friendship and the belief that if you never give up, anything is impossible.
