Total Recall

'Total Recall’ is directed by Len Wiseman and stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. The film is a remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger hit that shares the same name. The film centers on Douglas Quaid (Farrell) who decides to take a risk and visit Rekall, a company that implants fake memories in their clients’ brains with a life they wish they had, but unfortunately his visit goes horribly awry and chaos ensues. The entire police force is after Quaid along with a woman who he thinks is his wife (Beckinsale) but turns out no one is who they say they are. Can Quaid figure out who he is and why he is being hunted before it’s too late?

Total Recall’ is a high action packed sci-fi thriller that disappoints. The film is just action. There isn’t much of a story and there is no character development. The entire film is Melina (Biel) trying to protect Quaid from Lori (Beckinsale) and the police. There are tons of great fighting scenes and action, but that’s it.

The acting is decent, Farrell does a good job being confused the entire time and not knowing what’s going on or who he is. Biel is the same as she is all the time, which is attempting to be the tough guy. Beckinsale delivers a decent performance as well, as the sexy fake wife who is capable of putting a grown, built, man in a headlock and almost choking him out. But, nothing was impressive.

In conclusion, ‘Total Recall’ is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys action films with barely any dialogue or story.
