River Phoenix's final film 'Dark Blood' to be released!!!

On September 27, 2012 at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands River Phoenix's final film, 'Dark Blood' will finally be viewed by an invited only audience. The film is centered around Boy(Phoenix) a widowed hermit, who lives on a nuclear testing site awaiting the end of the world. As he waits he creates these dolls that he believes have magical powers. The film had 11 days left of production when Phoenix tragically died. It was put on hold and never worked on until last year when director George Sluizer claimed he saved the film after fearing it would be destroyed and began editing it with a hopeful release in 2012. The film was written by Jim Barton, and stars River Phoenix, Jonathan Pryce, and Judy Davis. Phoenix's younger brother, the Academy Award Nominee Joaquin Phoenix lent his voice to the film because Sluizer believed they sounded 'alike.' There is no guarantee the film will have a theatrical or DVD release, but all are excited for the reviews and critiques of a film that has taken nearly twenty years to be viewed.

On October 31, 1993 up and coming actor, River Phoenix tragically died of drug-induced heart failure outside Johnny Depp's nightclub, The Viper Room. Phoenix, at just 23 years old already had an impressive resume of films, including 'Stand By Me' and 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'.
