'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' surpasses expectations

Nearly three years ago, actor Chris Evans introduced the world into his now infamous role as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. The first film for the comic book character and the first time audiences got a glimpse into the mysterious persona was based around how Steve Rogers the small, scrawny boy turned into Captain America the brawny, muscular man that saved the world and fought for America’s freedom during the darkest days of the Great Depression. The film ends with the Captain awaking into present day, nearly 70 years after his glory days and being asked to fight with some of S.H.I.E.L.D’s most elite superheroes in 2012’s blockbuster hit, The Avengers. Now the Captain is back in Captain America the Winter Soldier and is struggling to understand the modern world, and is incapable of grasping the idea that not everyone is to be trusted.

Captain America: the Winter Soldier was fantastic. It was definitely better than the first film, Captain America: the First Avenger, and some are arguing that it could possibly be better than The Avengers. The film is a lot darker than the other Marvel hits. There’s definitely no cheesy moments and there are no comedic lines or humor built into it. Besides the fact that there is no humor, it is beyond entertaining. The character of the winter soldier is intimidating, quite realistic and will stop at nothing to complete his mission. Captain America: the Winter Soldier has action from almost the very first scene, and it doesn’t stop throughout the film. Audiences will be at the edge of their seat, rooting for the Captain and his allies to protect what is being compromised and attempt to destroy the famed winter soldier.
The acting in the film is great. Chris Evans is perfect as the old soul Steve Rogers and the compassionate, naïve Captain America. Being that this is the third time he is portraying this character he is really building the character and developing a huge fan base for his portrayal.Scarlett Johansson is awe-inspiring; she returns to her now also infamous character from The Avengersand previously from Iron Man 2Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, as the witty, crime-busting beauty and Captain America’s side kick for most of the film.
The film is a little confusing in the beginning because a lot of action occurs at once and the audience starts to feel uneasy when certain characters are targeted and the thought that no one is safe or to be trusted is the main theme in the film. But, with all the great action and interesting plot twists this film is not to be missed this spring. It is a definite must see, and one of the best Marvel movies in recent years.
In conclusion, Captain America: the Winter Soldier is highly recommended to anyone that loves Marvel movies, comic book characters and high action flicks. Also to anyone that enjoys exciting films packed with great stories with a wonderful juxtaposition of an intimidating dark side and a thrill for gutsy noble characters that will stop at nothing to see the bright side.
